Melissa was recently honored with an International Latino Book Award for her novel "Island Eight." The prestigious award recognizes outstanding works that authentically and meaningfully portray Latinx culture and experiences.

Sabina Matos '01

She made history in 2021 when she was elected as the first Latina mayor of Providence, RI. Then she became the first woman of color elected as Lieutenant Governor of RI.
