As a bilingual Latino and first-generation college graduate from the Dominican Republic, I understand the barriers many in the Latinx community face when seeking mental health care. Too often, language differences, cultural stigma, and lack of representation create obstacles to receiving support. My background as an academic advisor allowed me to walk alongside students in achieving their goals, and it was through those experiences that I discovered my true calling: serving vulnerable populations. Now, as an MSW student, I am committed to advocating for equitable and culturally responsive care, and I aspire to continue supporting the healing, resilience, and well-being of the Latino community.
